In our society, children’s love and admiration for their fathers are often unspoken which creates a gap between them. By eliminating these gaps society can function more effectively in ensuring a child’s proper growth as a good individual. Through a strong bond with their father, children can be more confident to overcome challenges and barriers in their lives, and this bonding benefits both families and society as a whole.
The PPEPP-EU project actively promotes behavior change communication within communities to ensure a prosperous life for the extremely poor people. ‘Exemplary Father Campaign’ is a key gender-specific behavioral change initiative of the project.
Implemented under the Women Empowerment Leading to Gender Equality component the campaign aims to recognize and appreciate fathers who take responsibility for childcare, support their children’s education—especially for girls—and refrain from domestic violence. This event primarily focuses on the relationship between the fathers and their daughters.
The fathers who set an example by raising their children, particularly daughters by creating an equal and violence-free environment are selected to participate in the meeting in the Social Development Center of PPEPP-EU. Fathers attend the meeting with their daughters which is held at the Social Development Center premises. The girls read out letters titled “My Father,”, and which they write before joining the meeting to share their feelings and gratitude toward their fathers. These letters help highlight the profound impact of supportive fathers on their children’s lives. Fathers share their experiences of overcoming social challenges to create a safe and caring environment for their children to grow without unexpected obstacles.
The Exemplary Father campaign by PPEPP-EU highlights the essential role of fathers in creating an equal and violence-free society, especially for children. In addition to this, this campaign works to break the stereotypes and promote the understanding that daughters deserve the same care, guidance, and opportunities as sons. The importance of educating daughters and supporting their aspirations is widely promoted here. By strengthening father-daughter bonds, the campaign inspires confidence in girls to pursue a brighter future.
