As in previous years, on 3 December, 2025, the PPEPP-EU project commemorated the 34th International and 27th National Day of Persons with Disabilities. The occasion was observed across all operational areas of the PPEPP-EU project to promote the rights, protection, dignity, and inclusion of persons with disabilities within mainstream society. The theme for this year was “Fostering disability-inclusive societies for advancing social progress.”
The day was marked by a range of programmes, including quizzes, awareness-raising discussions on the reasons of various disability issues and the importance of nutritious food for the family, games, street theatres and other activities organised by various platforms of the PPEPP-EU Project, such as the Prosperity Village Committee, the Disability Forum, the Mother and Child Forum, and the Social Development Centre, with active participation from members with disabilities. Furthermore, to celebrate the day, rallies, discussions, and various day-long activities were organised jointly with government departments at the district and upazila levels, engaging persons with disabilities.
Making their presence, concerned government officials at the district and upazila levels emphasised the importance of persons with disabilities’ active participation in building an inclusive and non-discriminatory society. They urged everyone to work towards ensuring the rights and equal participation of persons with disabilities and increasing their capabilities, while also addressing the causes and remedies of disability.
