Every year, the Bangladesh Government observes ‘National Nutrition Week’ to raise awareness about the importance of nutrition for good health. This year, the PPEPP-EU project celebrated the occasion from 28 May to 3 June 2025, in collaboration with the government. During the week, national and local government institutions hosted week-long programmes in partnership with various non-government organisations, under the theme “Nutritious Food for All, From Children to the Elderly.”
To mark the week, PPEPP-EU carried out various activities across its 145 unions in 34 upazilas of 12 districts, including exhibitions of nutritious foods, demonstrations of cooking techniques, awareness sessions on Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) practices, and campaigns promoting effective hand-washing across multiple project platforms.
PPEPP-EU members participated in the celebration and engaged in numerous Nutrition Week activities and special events organised by the government and the PPEPP-EU project through its various social platforms, including the Prosperity Village Committee, Mother and Child Forum, and Social Development Centre.
During the week, children, pregnant women, lactating mothers, and adolescent girls received health and nutrition services from the special Satellite Health Camps organised by the project in its most remote areas.
Additionally, PPEPP-EU hosted a day-long Nutrition Fair and Cultural Programmes, featuring a street theatre show, quiz and essay competitions, and open discussions with members, adolescent girls and boys, and the community, centred on nutrition and health issues.
Reena Akhter, a 15-year-old member of the PPEPP-EU’s Social Development Centre (SDC) in Khulna’s Dacope Upazila, expressed her excitement about the week, stating, “We are so happy to be part of these activities. During the week, we focused on engaging more people to attend our programmes and utilise the services. We think the nutrition week has a good impact on our community.”
