Prosperity working area covers some of the most climate vulnerable regions of Bangladesh. In recent times, lives and livelihoods in these areas have been devastated by repeated cyclones, excessive rainfalls and flash floods. Just last month, some of the Prosperity unions in Satkhira and Patuakhali got flooded in the aftermath of cyclone ‘Yaas’. Many farm-based IGAs under the programme have been inundated or otherwise damaged. Some participants have been left homeless and are now living in makeshift tents. Prosperity field officials and young volunteers are working to provide the immediate support although the affected households will need months and even years to recover from the shock.
