A consultation workshop on the ‘Pathways to Prosperity for Extremely Poor People – European Union (PPEPP-EU)’ project was held on 15 September 2024 at PKSF Bhaban. Md Fazlul Kader, Acting Managing Director of PKSF, chaired the event, while Dr Fazle Rabbi Sadeque Ahmed, Deputy Managing Director, delivered the welcome speech at the workshop.

Dr Sharif Ahmed Chowdhury, Project Director, and Tanvir Sultana, Deputy General Manager, PKSF and Deputy Project Director (PPEPP-EU), presented valuable insights on the project’s progress and challenges and offered recommendations on how to implement the project efficiently and achieve the desired outcomes.

There is a huge difference between the first and fifth-generation ultra-poor people. The fifth-generation poor no longer have dreams and objectives in their lives, which PKSF’s Acting Managing Director, compared with the latent heat of physics in his closing remarks. He added that no real development in their living standards is possible unless we bring back this latent heat by devising some effective, long-standing and consistent interventions for them.

At the welcome speech, PKSF’s DMD, Dr Fazle Rabbi Sadeque Ahmed, said that as the PPEPP-EU project is being implemented in various climate-vulnerable areas and is approaching its end, it is important to trace the major challenges and determine the future strategic directives for the project.

Executive Directors, Focal Persons, and Project Coordinators from the Partner Organizations (POs) of the PPEPP-EU project attended the workshop. Representatives of POs shared the latest updates, experiences, and major challenges in their respective areas regarding poverty reduction efforts, loan disbursement progress, nutrition and healthcare activities, natural disaster management, and other issues.

The PPEPP-EU project, funded by the European Union, aims to alleviate poverty for 2,15,000 extremely poor households and is being implemented through 19 POs of PKSF.
